Frequently Asked Questions

Does participation in the program qualify as a charitable deduction?

San Juan Diego views the partnership with its corporate sponsors as a business-to-business relationship, since students provide real business value to sponsors. The $22,000 fee for the students’ services comes directly from company operating budgets.

What kind of jobs do students perform?

Our students perform entry-level clerical tasks such as receptionist duties, filing, faxing, copying, data entry, mailroom, and conference room set-up.

Will the student workers be trained before they come to our office?

New students are required to attend a two-week job training institute during the summer. They are trained in the areas of team building, professional etiquette, communication, use of office equipment, keyboarding, confidentiality, diversity and presentation skills.

What are the responsibilities of sponsors and of the school?

Corporate sponsors commit to:

  • Provide meaningful work for students and to explain to them the importance of each student’s role within the organization.
  • Provide a supervisor who believes in the program and in the success of the San Juan Diego students, and who will ensure a positive work environment for students.

San Juan Diego promises to:

  • Provide an eager, capable student-worker to complete meaningful tasks in each corporate sponsor’s office.
  • Train the students prior to arrival at their work sites and throughout the duration of the program.
  • Provide daily transportation for students to and from work.
  • Manage all details of payroll and taxes.
