| Frequently Asked Questions
How will San Juan Diego Catholic High School prepare me for college?
All San Juan Diego students graduate with an Advanced Diploma of 30 credits. After-school tutoring, Advanced Placement courses, enrichment and summer school classes are available to ensure academic preparation. Providing its students with the opportunity to become young leaders, SJD prepares students for postsecondary college and career success.
What percentage of San Juan Diego students go on to college?
Since opening in August 2002, SJD has graduated two classes of seniors, a total of 47 students. Of these graduates, 41 of them (87%) are currently enrolled at colleges and universities around the country. At San Juan Diego, we don't ask students if they are going to college, but where they are going to college. During their junior year, students take a seminar specifically designed to prepare them for the college application and admissions process.
What if I can't afford the tuition payments?
SJD makes Catholic education affordable for all students through its innovative Corporate Work Study Program. Students work five eight-hour days per month at professional workplaces such as law firms, hospitals, banks, high-tech companies, schools, marketing and consulting firms. In return for their work, companies pay a portion of the students' education. These earnings offset the cost of tuition, lowering it to only $4,100 per year.
Please note: San Juan Diego does not want tuition to be a barrier for any student who wants access to quality, Catholic, college-prepatory education. Therefore, SJD offers financial aid and scholarships to assist students who wish to experience college and career success. All financial assistance is awarded based on family income and extenuating circumstances. What are Shadow Visits, and how do I schedule one?
A good way for prospective students to experience what San Juan Diego is all about is to participate in a Shadow Visit. During a Shadow Visit, prospective students will join the SJD students for class and see the school in action! They will have the opportunity to ask questions of both faculty and students, and to experience what it's truly like to be a San Juan Diego student. This full-day visit is an excellent way to see if San Juan Diego Catholic High School is "The School That Works" for YOU, the prospective student!
Prospective students are always welcome to visit the school. However, it is best to call and make an appointment with the Admissions Director. This will assure that someone is available to answer questions and serve as a guide.
